I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with extensive experience in child, adolescent, and adult mental health and substance abuse issues across the continuum of care. In 2013 I founded Innovative Behavioral Health Services, PC (IBHS) in Creedmoor, NC to help meet the needs of North Carolina’s underserved rural populations. My background is in community-based services. I believe that early interventions are the best way to prevent hospitalization, as well as providing a supportive continuum of care when hospitalization becomes an unavoidable necessary intervention. My areas of interest include severe and persistent mental illness, treatment of attention deficit disorder across the lifespan, and transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment resistant depression. I also us cytochrome (CYP) P-450 testing for targeted medication interventions.

My theoretical orientation is from an eclectic approach which provides a balance of the different types of therapies to meet the client where they are at. I also have acquired special training, which provides an opportunity for me to work with children and adults dealing with different traumas they have experienced. I ascribe to treating the whole person and to helping the individual to become his or her own best therapist. It is my belief that as an individual becomes more aware of their thoughts, actions, emotions and beliefs that they have increased ability to face challenges and overcome difficult situations more successfully.

I have extensive experience with a diverse range of emotional and behavioral issues, such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, adjustment disorder, ADHD, self-esteem, parenting, and peer relationships while working with individuals, couples and families. I also work with survivors of Human Trafficking through project FIGHT.

In 2007, I entered the mental health field. That was the beginning of a journey that has led me to my life’s passion, empowering people to reach their full potential. My endeavor is to meet the clients where they are at. I seek to promote a collaborative environment with clients using strengths-based and evidence-based approaches such as CBT, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation.

I work with adults and children who are experiencing challenges with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, attention deficits, and other mental health issues. My clinical approach is grounded by the belief that the clients are the experts. I am a vessel that can help clients use their expertise to face their challenges and live an empowered lifestyle.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 31 years of experience in providing psychosocial support, education and counseling to individuals, couples and families in medical and mental health settings. My theoretical approach is a mix of therapy modalities that include CBT, person-centered therapy, psychoeducation, solution focused and psychodynamic therapies. I work with adults and children experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, loss, chronic illness, end of life, adjustment disorders, divorce, low self-esteem, life transitions, mood disorders, trauma, relationship issues, women’s issues and other mental health issues.

I am here to listen to you, meet you where you are and work collaboratively to assist you in facing challenges and overcome difficult situations more successfully. My mission is to treat the whole person, assist you in healing from the past, promote wellness and enable you to be your own expert.
